unsafe/unsanitary

By jones50

I have been renting this apartment for over a year now. When I first moved in (Nov. 2009), the central heating/cooling unit leaked water into my hallway. It took about 3 days before they sent somebody to "suck up the water" with a shop vac. This past year it did the same thing and it took this new manager a whole week before she sent somebody to do the same thing! She didn’t even bother to come an see the problem. I have a two year old as well. We had to put plastic down just so that he wouldn’t be in the water. When it was time for main office to do inspections, management here sent lady around to "patch" up spots on ceilings and other. Well, one of the spots that she painted over in bathroom ceiling is now leaking. Keep in mind I live underneath somebody else. When I first notified manager of this, she came over and had person upstairs to flush toilet and run water in tub (for bout 1/2 min). Then she said "I don’t see nothig leaking". Then she left. Two weeks later (Jan 13.) I heard water dripping in bathroom again. This time I video it with my phone. I also left water on floor so she could see. When she finally came over to see it that night, she brought her hubby with her to "feel the ceiling for moisture". She had person upstairs to run water in tub this time and you could hear it pouring into the ceiling like rain! She told me the next morning that it would be the 18th before sombody could come out to fix it. I was gone all last week and expected this problem to be fixed by the time I returned (Jan. 21). It’s still not fixed! Now I can’t get manager on phone and home office won’t return my calls. I am pregnant and fear that either myself or my 2yr old may be in danger of ceiling caving in while in bathroom or getting sick because of somebody else’s nasty water leaking into our apartment. What do I do?
