Was told to vacate via phone message

By Chip Tatroe

On 9-2-2010 our landlord of 11 yrs, good years being told how happy everyone was to have us there and other more family like conditions and so on, leaves a message on our phone stating that we had to be out by the end of sept.. We live in the country in a "big ole farm-house", that we discussed several times about buying from them. They own a large dairy farm down the road.

I could on with the above story but i don’t have time:
We are not behind on any payments.
There was no official lease, just a signed piece of paper.
My factory closed in ’07, had 23 yrs in making auto parts, now I’m branded a 99er.
My wife is disabled and drawing ssd, her disability was added to the SS’s Compassionate Allowances List last yr.
I’m also a mechanic with a garage full of equipment, tools, engines and other stuff you need to run a garage.
I’m also going to Computer school to "reinvent myself".

We have been good tenants, taken good care of this old (built in 1864) house, was always complimented on how nice the yard looked and so on ….

They want the house for their son.
I called back and talked to the wife she let slip that "they had to get in here and remodel before their son … oops oh sorry you’ll have to talk to Ken about this"
Since then I have left a message a day to talk to Ken, all I get is he’s busy in the fields right now, he’ll call you later.
He did, however, talk to my wife when she called to ask for more time, he gave us a whole week, "But you can’t be there on the second week of October", was the last verbal communication with him.

Can he just displace a family for no other reason than "Their son needs the place" !!??
