Can you get out of the lease if the rental is dirty when you moved in?

Can you get out of the lease if the rental is dirty when you moved in? We have cleaned the carpets three times and they still smell, stains are surfacing from the matting under the carpet. We have told the owner and property management about the problem atleast three times. The home is three bedroom and we can only live in half of the house, and we are still paying full rent.

Hi. Did you already talked to your landlord about it? Because we have different grounds in order for the contract to be ended. When a contract is broken, the damaged parties should make valid efforts to keep his damages as low as possible. In your case that can still be fixed. You can forward a request to your landlord to fix every damage that your apartment has. You can approach him verbally, you can also write a letter which is much better. :) Good luck!
