Laws on security deposit?

Does a landlord have to put the security deposit in a seperate account  even if he/she is still waiting for half of it? Mass

Based from my experience I just keep them. Bank accounts, Old Jars, Drawers and etc. as long as its safe.

It depends if your a private owner, an LLC, etc.

If your a business entity, I think yes.

If your a private individual owner I dont think it matters as long as you return it. If you dont you have to claim it as income.
