Delay in Major Landlord Repairs ~ Leaking Roof
By AuroraColoradoFlooding
Due to the recent flooding in the area, my roof and ceiling are completely saturated, leaking through, and developing a huge amount of mold. I contacted landlord about this and mailed a letter 3 weeks ago. From what I can tell in Colorado law, they have 72 hours to fix the problem after written notification or my lease is voided and I can leave. They haven’t even come to the house to look at it yet. I’d like to be out of my lease, but I want to make sure I do things right so I can get my security deposit back and it doesn’t affect mine or my cosigners credit. Any advice on how to handle this matter appropriately in accordance with the law is greatly appreciated.

Yes your landlord or the management should see the problem first and hopefully will find a way to fix it as soon as possible. But in cases like the tenant’s concerns/problems are neglected, you can file a complaint with RPA. If your Landlord will be proven to neglected addressing your concerns, then you can break your lease and get your security deposit. I hope this helps!! |
