Is he allowed to do this?

By shelly

Just finished up a 6 month lease now we are on a verbal month to month I assume. However, our landlord was on our property this morning measuring. I went out to ask what he was doing and he informs me that he is going to move a trailor (mobile home) in front of our house. We live in a house not a mobile home on 6 lots in town. Can he do this? Also when he left he had wooden sticks in the ground as well as several concrete blocks in our yard. Can he leave things like this? We have three small children that could get hurt by this. The wooden sticks coming out of the ground are probably at least a foot high and are within a foot of our swing set.

You need to check your city or municipal ordinances on the siting of manufactured homes in areas designed for single-family residential uses. Such ordinances will dictate how far the manufactured homes needs to be from your home, whether it needs to be on a permanent structure or not and so on. Basically, everything that guides the siting of a mobile home near your home should be clearly written there. I understand that you are worried about your children’s welfare so it is best to speak to your landlord soon about it. If the landlord is in violation of local ordinances, you can tell the police or you can file a complaint with the RPA. Good luck!
