mold law in WA

By Tom Lucas

What is the law regarding renters rights and landlord responsibilities for mold in WA state? I have a perpetual mold problem in my bathroom. We run the bathroom fan for atleast 30 minutes after showers and still have it growing. My wife is allergic to it as well. I even showed my landlords the problem when they were here replacing a countertop. The said ogh just scrub it with bleach or buy KILZ. Well, if I do buy the KILZ am I legally allowed to present them with the receipt and deduct the cost of the fix from the rent? I’ve had other landlords thatjust loved me and were happy to "pay" for the fix considering it saved them work, but I’m not sure that this particular landlord will be so generous. so what are my legal rights regarding this situation?

Have you received any information regarding your concern? I am having a similar concern, my issue regards black mold growing along the floor boards along the inside of my apt. also I am in a basement apt which probably just makes things worse. I would really like to know if you have received any info.

I appreciate your response.
