Rental application and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

By cpudoc64

Hello. I have a very basic question. I live in Illinois and am currently renting a house but when the lease is up next year I will need to rent again somewhere else. I currently rent a house with my wfie but we will be filing for divorce in the new year. Since I need to find a new place to live the only thing I see holding me back is the fact that I am currently in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. I have a good job, no convictions (not even as much as a speeding ticket, knock on wood). Can a propspective rental company reject me because of my credit status only? I ask that realizing it is a general statement but would being up front wiith any new landlord help my case? Thank you !

If you have Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, why not check with some landlord or local apartment manager who can keep you on rent. Check with RPA site.. they have some good features of checking landlords, rental companies, checking their ratings and verify the apartments, etc. http://www.rentalprotectionagency.com/free-landlord-check.php

Let me know if you need further help. God bless
