my 1 year old cant sleep in her room due to leaky cieling and mold

my landlord tells me he will fix it in a couple of weeks but this was a couple of weeks ago. every time t rains the cieling leaks and there is mold growing….what can i do. i cant even have my daughter in there anymore.  what are my rights?

Hi Tarra. You have the right to request for minor repairs such as the leaked ceiling and the growing of mold. I believe you already approached your landlord about it but still there are no actions to this problem. Since you are done notifying your landlord with this issue verbally, you can write a letter request. Even if you did approach him verbally a written request is almost always helpful. This will give you a chance to relate the problem clearly and point out why he should fix it right away. One effective tactic on this is to explain that the problem might get more costly if will not be fixed immediately. Include on the letter how inconvenient the problem is. Do good in writing the letter, if this is not effective then you can contact the RPA (Rental Protection Agency). You can also file a complaint to them. :)
