over paying for their mistake

By jennifer

i recently rented an apartment at the end of january and when we moved in the money we paid that day was supposed to cover the prorated amount for januray, the move in cost, and the month of february. 2 weeks after we moved in the leasing office called us and said there agent made a mistake and we owed another $300+ for februrary. I informed them it would be a hard amount for me to come up with and attempted to work out some kind of deal with them. on February 26th i paid half of the cost which was $116 and attempted to pay rent for march but they told me they could not take march’s rent until the full previous balance was paid off. on march 16th i recieved a letter of eviction from the apt complex. i went to their corporate office and they are trying to make me pay the rent(which im fine with paying) plus the late fees and the remaining amount owed from their mistake in order to keep from being evicted. what should i do????
