Past utility bill

By jason

Hello, I have question regarding a situation I’m currently dealing with a landlord. My previous landlord has contacted me about a past utility bill. I had lived in the apartment for about 5-6 months and paid all my rent on time. I moved out in mid February due to job lose. I received my deposit back and was granted to be released from my lease. 3 months later I’m being told I have to pay almost $300 for a utility bill which was never in my name and was not specifically written in my lease. The clause said the following utilities will be paid by tenant and a blank was left on my lease, so nothing specific was written in, again it was left blank (Seems Shady). What are my rights as a tenant?
