Questions to Ask a Potential Landlord before Signing a Lease

By TJLMFT2BE

I just had a horrible experience with a landlord. She was basically a housewife who was in way over her head. For example, she required us to make our own repairs and tried to charge us once for sending a maintenance man to come to turn down our hot water heater when the water was literally scalding. She even tried to "trick" us into staying under lease with a rent increase! We finally had to call the city inspector because she did not have working smoke detectors and things like that. That seemed to work. I was prepared to go to court as a matter of principle. I decided to share my story in a Yahoo! blog. If you have a chance to read it, it might save you a lot of heartache in the future because I’ve included helpful actions to take to avoid getting taken advantage of. Good luck!
