roaches, falling on ice and other unresolved renter problems

By rlstreet

I can’t figure out where to go next. I have lived all over the world, yet I move back to Maine and now the building we live in has what are known as Greman Roaches. My landlord gave us all a can of Raid and told us to remove everything and spray. I am a single mother of 2 young children and I work full time.  1. This spray is unsafe and I would not be able to do it with the kids in the house and 2. isn’t this the responsibility of the landlord?

Over the last 2 winters, my kids and I have fallen numerous times on the icy driveway, sidewalks and stairs. We have a dificult time getting him to plow the snow and the other tenant and I have taken to clearing the stairs and walk ways ourselves and helping each other get unstuck after the huge storms. We have inadiquate lighting in entry ways and when I have called to report a problem either I end up fixing it myself (or in some cases my father) or and most often, things dont get done.

This is m second winter fighting with the landlord about the icy conditions in the apartment areas. This morning after I fell, I made sure to see my PCP to get a letter of proof that I was seen for the injuries caused by the fall. I dont know where to go with this. Who can I report these problems to and can I really do anything about it?

I’m fed up and in pain tonight. HELP?!

Take evidents of everything. Write down, date, of every call, his response, ddoctor notes. When everthing is said and done, take him to court. After that take your family and move. Why beat a dead horse. What next, bed bugs?
