Scum Lord problems

By Ebony

I’ve been living in my aprtment for going on or at 4years now, moving in i had no knowledge to renters insurance, up until Dec.27.2010, moving in the rental agency did not mention anything of such, during my application process i was givin a application and a form that stated if anything in my home get damaged to do fire or water damage they are not held resposible, i did not sign off on the form, yet they still rented me the apartment, when i meantioned about this same exact form on Dec. 27,2010 they told me the form didnt really mean anything it’s just something they have to give, mind they dont carry insurance on any of their propertyies either, just find all of this out. To make a long story short, th water heater in my apartment burst and flooded out my entire apartment, I was at work when i recieved the telephone call that water was leaking from my front door. I called the Renatl agency and they were rude and un cooperative, i called the landlord and owner and basically told him the situation, and that i was at work, and i receive the phone call, i asked him could he go by and check on my aprtment and he told me he was busy, so i stated that if anything is damaged in my aprmtent that i basically couldnt give him any rent money, he verbally and forcefully told me " I dont give a fuck if you move out or not" in those exacts words, this flood occured on Dec.27.2010, i took off, rushed home from work got to my front door open my door and water just poured out…… i immediatley grabbed my camera and started taking picture, water was 3 inches high off the ground, i lost valuables, electronics, furniture, called the rental company again and nothing was done, the landlord stopped answering his phone, he sent a maitenance man with a broken leg to my apartment to see what was going on and the man basically called him and told him there was no savaging my apartment because the water was 3 ft. off the ground. He still did not come out to check on the apartment, didnt even call me to see what was going on, so i called the police and made a police report and was told to take him to court, i have recorded phone conversations with the receptionist where she basically told me the maintenance people work by first call fisrt come, and they had something more important than my house flooding out, that they had over 300 tenants and she cant say when or what time some one will get to me.  Today is december 29.2010 and still no one came out yet, i basically had to come out of pocket to get the water drained out of my home, had to come out of pocket to get someone to move the furniture that was destroyed out of the aprtment, had to get all my things that was savagable up and packed and togehter, on top all of this it’s during the holidays and im 6 weeks pregnant? and advice, could and would use any?

My neighbor had flooded her apt, which came down to mine all the way to the basement.my child was soaked, maintenance man said it needs replacing the landlord says she will dry it & paint it. I’m worried about damages & mold. What do I do?
