Smelly carpet

By Amy

hi,

two weeks ago, my toilet overflew for probably 4-5 hours (I was sleeping and only discovered it when I got up around 5:30am),
I called emergency maintenance and the problem was quickly resolved, however, the carpert was completely soaked into water. 1-2 hours after I began to air dry the carpet using a fan, I began to smell a foul odor. I call the property manager and the next day, she sent a professional carpet cleaner to clean where the carpet was wet and despite that the odor still remained. I call her again the following week, she came herself with the profesional cleaner and she told me that she could smell something when she entered the apartment but nothing in the bedroom, but decided to get the carpet cleaned again.

Despite that I still smelled the odor, and I even used baking soda, opened my window all night and sometimes all day long, it helped remove a bit of the odor but the smell still remains and now is way stronger during the night.

I called the manager again and even went there to find a solution to the problem, she told me that she will let her supervisor know so that they can look at the pad ( at my suggestion).  IT’s been more than 10 days now and nobody came and her supervisor did not return any of my phone call..

I don’t sleep anymore in that bedroom and I am tired of this problem and pretty pissed because they are not taking care of the problem; that’s why I would like to know if any of you has a suggestion and can help me with this mess.
