Urine, Roaches, Black Mold making me sick

By S.Stocker

I was in a hurry to move into a new place and the home on Fig Ave was avl. I quickly got my paperwork turned in and was told the home would be ready on a Monday in March and I could move in that Tuesday. That there mihgt be some cleaning which I didn’t mind doing. That Tuesday came and I moved in. The home smelled like urine and I was to affraid to even walk barefoot. The next day Kirt came out and started to replace the carpet in the bedroom. When he ripped it up it was covered in urine stains. Kirt admitted the cat peed in 2 areas. For a week I waited for the floors to be finished in the bedroom. They were finally done but the smell was still in here. Turned out the place was covered in urine including the big yellow stain on top of the frig. in the kitchen. Not only was it full of urine but also was infested with roaches. He did take care of that problem. Now I have been told the old tenants had issues with black mold and there is black stuff every where. He is having that tested. So we will see if it is black mold. The place was listed as $550 online and he up the price to $600. A practice by fellow neighbors I have been told he typically does. So after the urine, roaches, the price being up and now perhaps black mold he gave me a 30 day noticeand told me I need to live in a newer place because that would better suit me. Kirt’s buisness practice to me in my opinion are very shady and I wouldn’t care to deal business with the likes of him again.

So now I am out $150 for my matress and pillow from being on the urine soaked carpet. I am also out the extra $50 and there is black stuff on my $2,700 worth of new furniture that might be black mold. What can I do?

Ask for damages. It is his responsibility to make the place and sanitized before you even move in. He clearly committed negligence in his part. Well.. I’m no attorney but you can seek legal advice or file a complaint here. RPA is really good with these cases.
