Why does my landlord not permit me to have a washing machine in my apartment?

By Marilyn Hernandez

When I moved into my apartment building with my family in 2004. On the lease I was allowed to have a washing machine but in 2010 a new owner bought the apartment building and we weren’t allowed to have one anymore. Also there was small laundry room in the basement which eventually was closed down for being illegal.

Cause of this I was allowed by the old landlord to have a washing machine in my apartment. But now in 2014 a new landlord bought the building, and is telling that if I don’t take out my washing machine then I have to leave the apartment.

What should I do?
