Why does my old landlord not send me my LMR and security deposit.

By Brian J Kennedy

I moved out of a complex in Jan, Januray5, but they made me pay thru Jan 19, which I did.

I have lived in the complex since June 2011, and have never had an eviction notice. I pad a late charge maybe 6 times in that time period.

When I signed the lease the said I had no rent history  which could be true, as I lived in VA housing downtown.

But with gas prices going way up, it worked out cheaper to rent closer to work driving a full size truck.

My credit score they said was also low, so they required Last Months rent plus a security deposit $500 plus $255.00

My new complex said I had a 712 credit score, and only required a 255 deposit to move in.

I had the unit professionally cleaned and had the asst mgr do a walk thru with me. , to make sure all items were cleaned and nothing broken, and I think it was in better shape than when I moved in, even factoring in normal wear and tear.

After reading the contract it appeared that I needed to write a letter requesting my LMR and deposit back, and it would be mailed within 30 of vacating the apartment.

It has now been almost 60 days, and still not check. I have called the complex and they say it was mailed. Then re-mailed.

ABOUTK THE TIME I MOVED, THE COMPLEX SOLD TO A NEW ENTITY. I HAVE SINCE BEEN IN CONTAQCT WITH THE NEW ENTITY LARAMAR IN DENVER, I LIVE IN OKC, AND THIS PAST MONDAY I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THEM SAQHYING THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE MATTER.

WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS IN THIS CASE.
