We moved into an apartment in January 2009. Since day one of moving in we’ve had issues. We moved into a leaking dishwasher and a leaking bathroom faceut. The landlord fixed them both within a couple days. They did not have the dryer or washer that they said we would have. It took them over a month to finally get something working in the basement. We’ve had squirrels living in the attic since day one and they still have not got them out. This is just a little of everything that is happening. I am wondering if we have the legal right to break the lease. We are supposed to be here till Feb. 2010, but we can’t take it anymore. Thanks

No you can’t break your lease over those items. Honestly, it sounds like you are being a little anal with your landlord. Give the guy a break its not like you have a huge health hazard. The only way you could possibly consider breaking your lease would be to prove that you landlord has breached the lease agreement. Dripping faucets, and leaking dishwashers don’t justify you getting out of your contract. [Reply] |
