COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

In May of 2007 my rental unit was broken into. As a result of the breakin the door was damaged and has not worked properly since. A police report was fileed at the time of breakin. I have given management several opportunities to fix the problem, however, they have not provided a safe solution. The door frame was bent due to the breakin and will only latch shut with the deadbolt is used. I feel that the my security is at risk and feel I have no option but to seek a new rental. Mananagement has failed to provide a safe livinging environment, therefore they have breached there contract and obligations.

From Date IP Address Response
Landlord Jan 15, 2008 After speaking with the resident we added a wrap around deadbolt door guard and due to the situation of the guard there was some small gaps that we addressed with weather strip. We additionally added a frame and door mounted deadbolt guard. Darrell seemed to be pleased with the additions. Due to this sudden change in attitude concerning his status here, we find it coincidental that the issue of safety was only brought up the day after he received a lease violation for an unauthorized pet.

Landlord Jan 4, 2008 The resident is accurate in stating that his apartment was broken into in May of 2007. Within hours we had replaced his locks and secured the door with the first of three additional security plates t
