| COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
|
I was asked to repaint the living room, which I gladly did. However, it seemed that once all was said and done, it was told to me that I misinterpreted an email that was sent by the landlord. In this confusing email I thought that I was to put the first coat of paint on and then later that night Michael would come by and do the second coat. I had to purchase all painting supplies except for the paint (I was NOT offered reimbursement for).In the following weeks, I sent SEVERAL emails that went unanswered. Finally, 3 wks later, they emailed back saying they had a "family emergency" and that my money would NOT be fully refunded because I only did one coat of paint. They charged me $125 for them to go in and slap a coat of paint (which they already had in the basement) on a 12X12 room!!This is OUTRAGEOUS since I would have NEVER left if like that had I understood the crazy ramblings of his wife in the email (which I still have).I took METICULOUS care of that apartment the entire time I was there and wouldn't do a job half-way ESPECIALLY if I knew I was going to be charged an outrageous amount! And, they couldn't have called me to question why I left it like that and at least give me a chance to come back and finish? It was an obvious misunderstanding and I was hugely over-charged!! I was also without a least for almost a year due to their laziness/neglegence. When I told them I was leaving, they told me I had to pay the $600/mo rent for my final month evn thorent was $550 in old leas
