COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

we moved into our new apartment on Mar 31 st. We did get a bug bug inspection done on the 18th of May. We were notified that our apartment had bed bug problems on the 22nd of May. My First complaint is that The Apartment management made us live in unlivable condition for 4 days without any notification. The Apartment Management informed us on the may 22nd that we as renters were responsible for the bed bugs. I inquired the management to provide me with a report saying that the apartment when rented to me was 100% bed bug free. But They refused to show me any such report. In Wake of their refusal to show me any such report that the apartment was bed bug free when we moved in on March 31 st,we kindly request the management to admit their mistake in renting us an apartment that has bed bugs. I did rent a new place in Atlanta and i am supposed to move to the new place by 30th may.Now i did loose deposit on my new place as they refused to rent me the new apartment until i get them treated in Charlotte. This ordeal has caused our family a lot of distress,to say the least. 1)i want to request the landlord a report that my specific apartment has been bed bug free when we moved in. 2)I also wanted to request the management why i was told about the bed bugs after 4 days and why me and my family we made live in unlivable conditions . Also i would like the management to disclose how many apartments in my building have this bed bug problem.so that we can know for certain that this is a wide spread problem rather than an isolated case.

Landlord Jun 13, 2011 69.132.96.163 We will process the $75 reimbursement check, and Babu should receive it within two weeks.

Renter Jun 8, 2011 99.158.137.166 I would accept the resolution amount of $75 as offered by the landlord.

Landlord Jun 6, 2011 69.132.96.163 In Regards to this complaint, the resident was offered and given copies of both inspections done in the apartment. We check all of our apartments before a resident moves in to make sure that it does not have bed bugs. We get a certification letter from our Pest Control Comapny stating if there were any bed bugs found in the apartment. 7305 Hagen Ct #1514 was checked before Babu moved in and there were no bed bugs. It was then checked again before he moved out and bed bugs were present in the apartment. Babu was given a copy of both the sheets. The one before he moved in that apartment that it did not have bed bugs as well as the sheet that stated that it did have them before he moved out. We did contact him four days later. I agree that he should have been contacted the day after the inspection. This was simply a mistake. For this mistake I did offer him $75 off the treatment, which he refused to take. He paid $275 for his treatment. He also did not want the apartment treated while he lived there and wanted to wait until he moved out. He orginally paid $325 for an occupied treatment, but when he wanted to wait until he moved out, we returned that check and he paid the $275, which is the cost of the vacant treatment. As far as him moving to Atalanta he told us that the community would still let him move in. I told him that was totally up to that community. I did however suggest things he could do to maybe prevent taking the bugs with him. We take great precautions to make sure that we do not move any residents in with a pest control problems in an apartment.(ex. bed bugs) We would still be happy to refund $75 to Babu for him not being called the day after the inspection was done. Please let me know if he would like us to do this. We are not willing to reimburse any other fees.
