COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
I received a mail from Karen Hockett dated July 18, 2012 stating that there is was an inspection on 06-20-2012 and 06-25-2012 and the pest masters found bed bugs in our apartment. This inspection was done in my absence. As per the mail, there is a charge of $750 for the cleaning. So, to check with the management, I visited the leasing office and met Karen - Assistant Community Director. I tried to convey her that there are no bed bugs in my apartment, but she told me that the inspection has been done by the third party and we need to pay it and there is no negotiating about it. So, I asked for the evidence and she could NOT produce it. She is just insisting that the apartment is indeed infested with bed bugs. However, we find it surprising that we are living in this apartment from past 1 month after the supposed inspection took place without any discomfort what so ever. Further more, there are even no beds in the apartment. The mail says that the treatment is on July 31, which we do not want to happen, since this is an unnecessary and forced upon us. They have also provided a preparation list which if we do not follow, will incur to $100 extra.
I am apprehensive that once RPA sends the notice, the landlord could actually produce a fake evidence by coming to our apartment in my absence, which is what exactly happened on 06/20.
So summarize, we are being charged for something that is non-existent.
We request you to take our case forward at earliest convenience.
