I tried calling management multiple times to request advance notice with inspectors/exterminators in order to secure my pets. I had to leave this note on my door for management to get a response.

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

Upon moving in we have faced constant struggle with Equity Property Management fulfilling promises of work repairs. We had to make our own copies of keys because they only gave us one for two people on the lease. We were told we had a storage unit which we had to contact management several times in order to be able to use it. We were told when viewing the apartment we would be getting new patio doors the end of April. We currently do not have a screen, lock, or hardware to our patio doors and it is the end of October. We've asked about this situation multiple times with no definitive answers. Regents Park Apartments is advertised as a gated apartment complex. The gate to our complex has not been functional since before moving into our unit in April 2012. Entrance doors to our buildings are frequently broken and do not close all the way so anyone can enter without being buzzed in. Both the washing machines in our building are broken and are often filled with dirty water for months on end. When we toured the unit before signing the lease, we were told they had ordered new washing machines. The parking situation at our complex is horrific. There are not enough parking spots so we often have to create our own by parking in random spots throughout the grounds. Tenants and friends loiter and drink in our courtyard and urinate in plain view. Management is aware. Beer bottles are often disposed of throughout the grass and lot. There is mold on the ceiling tiles of our bathroom. We've requested multiple times that we have advance notice when inspectors or other people have to come through our unit so we can make arrangements for our pets. We have lost out on extermination treatments because we were not given warning and the exterminators would not enter with pets present. Management fails to return phone calls and emails and when they do it takes days. Lastly, we notified management that we think we have bed bugs. They did one inspection and said there's no evidence. I've found multiple bed bugs and showed them the evidence, as well as my bites. They tried their own treatment unsuccessfully and told us that corporate does not want to pay for a professional treatment because it's expensive. We've had this problem for a month and they obviously show no concern about spreading this to their other tenants or making life here habitable. We want our unit exterminated at their cost and we want out of our lease with no penalties.

Renter Nov 8, 2012 76.29.80.129 1.Yesterday, November 7th, we wrote letters to all of our neighbors concerning our bed bug situation. Within 24 hours we had 4 units address us through email or in person and state they also have bed bugs. One unit even said they have had a bed bug problem since April. They notified management but the problem was never resolved. We called the Village of Bensenville and an inspector is coming to inspect units tomorrow, November 9th.

Renter Nov 1, 2012 76.29.80.129 1.On October 30th, 2012 I delivered our rent check for November along with a thirty day notice asking management to refer to the Rental Protection Agency for mediation. November 1st, I received a voice mail from Pascuale (management) to call him back regarding the letter. In our conversation he asked what work repairs were overlooked. I began to explain and he immediately interjected and became hostile. He said that Orkin was already here and inspected and all we had were spiders in our unit. He again talked over me saying that he will sue us for the remainder of the rent. He hung up on me.
