The first treatment cost i have already paid $250 my self to avoid any delay in treatment and eradication of bedbugs. But I would like it to be reimbursed as its Land Lords irresponsibility according to Massachusetts government and Boston housing authority to keep their multi unit building and rental property in best condition.

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

I moved to this apartment on June 1st 2012. I purchased complete new furniture from Ashley Furniture which was shipped directly on June 4 2012 to this apartment(receipts available). Soon after my arrival i started developing red bumps with itchy feeling on my body which i thought was some sort of allergy. I got my self checked by my doctor who daignosed it as insect bites. My 2 yr old toddler also developed rashes on her her body which compelled me to further investigate the cause.I noticed some sort of insects inside cravices of the bathrooms. I reported the presence of these insects/ bedbugs to the manager of the apartment complex on 27 october 2012. The manager got it inspected on 31st october by a specialized exterminator who confirmed it to be bedbugs. Now the manager of the apartment expects me to pay for all the three treatments ( $250 each) plus the inspection cost of the 3 adjacent units worth $50/unit. Total amount $900. According to Mass.gov it is Landlords responsibility to get the inspection and intervention done on their property regarding bedbugs. And being a tenant it was my responsibility to report the management about the existance of bedbugs which i did at once when noticed. I am willing to cooperate with the management for elimination of bedbugs readily. I expect a fair deal according to laws and regulations of the State.
