COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

I rented a efficiency located on the side of Ms. Pappas' house . The rental was on a month to month bases. I explained to her Ms. Pappas that I am a contract and I am hoping my contact will be extended and I will be here for at least 6 months, but not sure. I gave her a 700.00 deposit and 700.00 for first month rent. I did not sign a lease with this Ms. Pappas. A few months in....I was notified my contract would not be extended. My work gave me over 30 day notice and the day I was told I let Ms. Pappas know, I would be moving and could not stay. I asked her if i could use my deposit as last month rent ....but she told me that it was a deposit and when the place was empty and clean should would give me my deposit back....but should would need the rent for the month. Therefore, I paid her the rent. When I can to moving out...and getting back my deposit...she told me she spent it and did not have it. I told her I could not go anywhere without money I had no gas or traveling money and needed it to leave. when i came down to my dead line she wanted me out and told me I had no recourse for my deposit because we did not have any lease. Therefore, I stated a few extra day...because I had no money to get where i was going. She finally came up with 170.00 cash. I had to get back to Tampa, due to my mother being sick and needed help so I left.. I have called her several times and to no avail....she will not respond. I am not sure what I need to do and need the money...I do not have a job or a place to live. It has been hard living place to place. and out of my car. Can you help !
