COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

I notifyed my landlord that there is an bed-bug infestation in my apartment and four-plex. They responded that I was fully responsible for this. They sent out an alert dog that verified that there was bed bugs in my apartment. I believe that these bed bugs came from the apartment next to me initially as there is no evidence that the bed bugs orginated in my apartment.

Landlord Mar 29, 2013 71.216.133.169 Triplett Companies was notified of a possible case of bed bugs on Thursday, March 21st in the afternoon. Dana had spoken to a neighbor regarding a concern about having bed bugs in her unit after finding live bugs on her couch and her child’s bed. That neighbor in turn called our office, reporting the possible issue. He was concerned that the bugs could spread to his unit. Dana did not originally report the issue to our office. That same afternoon a local pest control expert was contacted with instructions to inspect the entire premises with a trained canine for evidence of bed bugs. The company was scheduled to complete this work on March 25th. They fully inspected each unit and only found bed bugs in Dana's unit. At this time Dana was notified that the issue needed to be remedied and that she would be responsible for the cost as her unit was the only unit in the 4-plex affected, and her lease clearly states that tenants are responsible for their own pest control. Bed bugs have never been an issue at this property and records from the pest control company clearly show that the Tenant is responsible for the infestation. If Dana does not correct the issue and the infestation spreads to other apartments, she will be responsible for the treatment of those units as well.
