I moved into the residence on April 8, 2013, two weeks into my one year lease we have been infested with mice, spiders and now bed bugs. They had no problem having the extermiator take care of the spiders and mice, but because i signed an addendum for bed bugs, they are saying i am responsible for paying for the exterminaton of bed bugs. 1200.00 for a heat treatment. The inspector that they hired couldnt find any trace of bed bug activity on any of my property. If I didnt find the actual bug and keep it for the inspector, they would of called it a Negative inspection. He even told me that even one bug he usaully will call it a positive but he was going to call it negative because he couldnt find any other traces. right before the inspector left, he found some dirt on the baseboard, and said he is calling it droppings to make a positive inspection along with the bug i provided him with. My point is that if i brought them into the apartment they would have been on my bed or furniture, he even agreed with that. i find it hard to believe that I brought bed bugs, spider and mice within 2 weeks of being there. Today i spoke with Dawn, she said the infestation is so small, that they are not even going to have the apartments attached to mine inspected. I feel this isnt fair that they wont even check to see if another resident passed them to me. I am cooperating, i just dont want to pay for this extermintation. as it is, i will have to buy a new mattress, so another 1200.00 is totally unfair. thanks for your time

Renter Jun 3, 2013 99.99.243.139 First of all, I find it blackmail to threaten me with the 1200.00 if I dont agree with the 400.00. If its a "fair" amount, why would you threaten to charge me 1200.00? secondly, I have to purchase a new bed and pay for an electric bill for 17 straight hours of my air conditioning to cool the apartment because your exterminator didnt open any windows after heating the apartment to 120 degrees. I will have about 1000.00 into this treatment, I dont feel that another 400.00 is fair. if your exterminator found a single trace of bed bug life on my property, I wouldnt have an issue with splitting this bill. The fact is that if i didnt provide him with a bug that I found, he would have deemed it a negative test. I am glad that you copy and pasted the email conversation that we had, now its documented blackmail. For more clarification, if i dont agree to the 400.00, you will bill 1200.00 to my rent. If I dont pay that amount, you will evict me right?
