COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

I and my husband have lived in this unit for the last 9 months and have never had bed bugs until a month ago where I started developing a rush. I asked around and learned that it could be bed bugs. Two nights ago, we found one bed bug wondering on my pillow. The next moorning, I called Crossroads management with confidence and no shame because I know it is not my fault. Two very rude ladies on phone told me staight out "It is you who brought them in, and you will be charged more than $400 or you can do it on your own. Wowww, they showed no concern about the issue eventhough it is serious. I am confident that bed bugs came from other units because my bedroom window's outside cover is broke, and I keep the window open at night. I must add, it is just me and my husband living here.We have no visitors. We didn't travel or stay anywhere latelly. I will call the city today and I filed this complaint too.

I was mislead by management because they said that they will figure out a solution but unfortunately they are refusing to work with me or accommodate my lack of cash in these difficult economic times. If I had the money I would not even bother complain or make a big deal of it. I would just pay and keep my mouth shut but unfortunately I don't the money right now. My apartment is super clean as it is only me and my husband living there. I have never experienced bedbugs in any of my previous appts and I don't know where they came from.

Renter Jul 29, 2013 107.202.56.61 1.I went this morning to pay my rent at crossroads management and also to remind the maintenance department that it has been more than three weeks since the maintenance guy told me and my husband that he will be to check and see if they trapped any bed bugs. The receptionist took my number and said they will call me. The minute I got home, Cindy ( a manager or something) called me and very arrogantly said I need to take the traps with the bed begs to her office and started attacking me about me going to the office and complaining. First, I went to the office to pay my rent because I don’t have time on the first. So, since I was there, I mentioned the issue to the receptionist. After she said to bring the traps, told “Cindy” over the phone and I quote” Can I please ask you a question?” She said “NO”and hung up. She was talking down to me as I was a no body who lives in a poor area and a cheap apartment. I felt belittled, humiliated, and discriminated against. Discrimination is a serious matter that can lower someone’s self-esteem. I feel helpless.

Renter Jun 25, 2013 107.202.56.61 The first thing they ask when you call Crossroads is your name and especially the unit number you are calling about. So, the first thing I gave them is my building address and my unit number and the girl answering the phone even wrote it down so she can put in a maintenance request. So this whole thing about not having my info is just a lie. Also, when both ladies attacked me and said I brought bed bugs to the unit myself I explained very CLEARLY that I have never had this issue in my previous apartments. It is JUST ME AND MY HUSBAND LIVING in the unit for the past 9 months. I said again very CLEARLY that I noticed a homeless man living in one of the units on the top floor and that it might be him bringing bed bugs to the building. IF YOU LISTNED BEFORE ACCUSING ME, I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT THERE IS A HOMELESS MAN LIVING IN MY APPARTMENT. I am not surprised by all this misunderstandings because they are so distracted and under trained in that office that they make all these mistakes like misplacing rent money several times, and clearly a lack of unified communication. Since you got all this "HOMELESS MAN IDEA" wrong, I just want you to treat the issue please.
