My husband and I discovered that there are bed bugs in our apartment last night. We have not purchased any new furniture since moving into this apartment over a year ago and the last time we were on vacation was months ago. My husband only recently noticed this issue. When I called the apartment manager, Steve, he said that we, as tenants would be responsible to pay for the treatment , since it was most likely us who brought them in the first place. He said that they will inspect the other apartments around us and would let us know the results. We contacted the apartment manager immediately after finding this out and want to do the right thing, but we are very disappointed to hear that we, as tenants are responsible to pay for this. I am also less than 2 months pregnant and this entire experience has been very scary and traumatic. My doctor is strongly recommending that chemicals/pesticides not be used, as it has been proven to cause birth defects in children, especially during the first trimester.
