Mr Basdakis told me that the previous tenant moved out a week before I moved in (10/18/2014) so I asked him if he changed the locks. He said he did not have to since the keys read DO NOT DUPLICATE. I asked him on several occasions to change the locks and even retained an attorney who was not very helpful. The lock to the mailbox which is right next to my front door is missing and also needs to be replaced. I'm very concerned that the former tenant(s) could very well return to the property to pick up their mail and easily let themselves in to the unit.

Apparently they decided to replace the locks only after I decided not to cancel the lease and pay vacancy rent in addition to his attorney fees. Basdakis has not yet replaced the locks.

Last I heard, Mr. Basdakis was planning to change the locks. I don’t know if that plan will change if Mr. Brown intends to vacate.
