COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

On April 29th 2017 we signed our lease. Right before signing we did a walkthrough of the apartment and noticed two bugs crawling on a loft wall. We thought they were cockroaches. We had never had bedbugs before. We even went that day to buy a can of Raid, which I still have a receipt for, and sprayed the apartment. The following day we moved in and setup our furniture That night I fell asleep upstairs. On May 1st we saw bugs under the covers of our daughter\\\'s bed in the loft. We still thought they were cockroaches.. On May 2nd we went to buy bait traps for them, which again we have a receipt for and I also developed a welt on my neck. I started to think there was a more serious problem and brought everything downstairs except for the bed. As I started to go through it, I found more of these bugs hiding only in boxes that were up there. On May 3rd I began to do research. Using the bugs that I had collected, I realized they were bed bugs and developed two more welts on my arm. I took the bedbugs in a bag, which I have pictures of, and showed them to the front office. Pest control was contacted. However to my surprise I was told he would not be able to come to our apartment until May 9th. If that were not enough the manager said that if we paid to get it done sooner it would be at our own expense. Frustrated, we purchased a gallon of a product called EcoRaider and had it sent next day air. That night my husband started to develop welts on his head. On May 4th we were exhausted and worried. I called in crying to the agent that leased us the apartment. He apologized and is the only one that has done so. When my husband got home from work we started to throw furniture away because there was not enough of the pesticide for everything. We threw away our daughter\\\'s bed and a futon that was downstairs. In our inspection we only found 5 bedbugs on our daughters bed and 3 on ours, but had seen them throughout the apartment. On May 5th my husband went into the office to speak with the manager but she was out for the day and was given a corporate phone number. He called and left a message. Right now 4 of us are sleeping on one bed that was sprayed and covered with mattress protectors. Today on May 6th our daughters have begun to develop welts. We have pictures of just about everything mentioned in this complaint.
