COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

We have already sent a copy of the report evaluating this building- not only did we tolerate in good faith moving in one month late after signing lease at 6219 Petersburg Unit 8- which was not authorized with the municipality-(which you knew before ever renting the place to us, and were aware of the numerous habitability issues in the building for years, according to the report we got from the municipality-dangerous building) you failed to disclose any of this to us. We were forced to move unexpectedly just two months after our late move-in ). Then, we had to pay for electricity at 2 buildings (320 e 45th) for three weeks while you got the apartment ready, and move our things(again). We noticed you repeatedly about our concerns- stairs, debri in the yard, the carport pillars. Then the severe leaks in the radiator, and winter 2021/2022 the atrocious amounts of water(gallons) leaking from the huge hole in rear bedroom ceiling. The job never got done to repair- then we were threatened told we had to move out for you to fix it- even through it was an incomplete job you neglected to fix and was pre-existing. The building itself has been through multiple earthquakes and has had flooding and water problems- which you have tried to blame on my family. You raised our rent in March 2021 to $1350- this was on a phone call with me, and with no notice whatsoever. Then you raised rent again another hundred dollars for everyone in august/ September. But nothing has been fixed- you also discontinued trash service for the whole complex with no prior notice at all in March 2021. All tenants have had to deal with mold, repeated flooding (which we all have spent numerous man hours of vacuuming water and soaking up wet carpets). None have been compensated or offered fair rental value. Instead, we have been threatened with towing vehicles. No notice of changes. And lied to from the beginning- not only about pre existing issues but safety and habitatability from the get go. We have all the documentation to prove the impact you have had financially on our family. But this barely skims the surface as far as your repeated gross negligence, dishonesty, and unfair business practices. The frustration, the time and energy spent on combating issues that were your responsibility to begin with- no effort to making things better.
