COMPLAINT : bed bug infestation 3 times from time of move to apartment
Fair Resolution according to renter :
  1. either refund $1690 for exterminator and dry cleaning of all my belongings or to wave last month rent for 10/2010 of $1339.00

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

i moved in to apartment in 11/2009 and was infested with bedbugs in 01/2010, 03/2010 and in 07/2010. I hired an exterminator in 01/2010 to exterminate the Apt. for $800.00 and had all of my belongings dry cleaned for $960.00. The second time in 03/2010, I was able to treat the problem with sprays. The third time I received a note that was left by the super on my door stating that neighbor from the 5th floor has them again and that an exterminator will come in and treat my apt. The exterminator came in two weeks after the notice was received by me. In all three cases, the management was informed via phone and mail regarding on going issue with bedbugs, but was told that it is a city epidemic and it is not a reason to get reimbursed or to break the lease. I notified the management about breaking the 2 year lease early and was told that they will keep my security deposit as penalty and that I was obligated to pay last month's rent for October, 2010. All copies of letters and receipts are available upon request. I would like to be able to break my lease and not have to pay last month's rent or would like to get reimbursed for all the financial loss due to an ongoing issue.
