| COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
|
First I want to start with some basic information. I have lived here since December of 2006. I have never been late on my rent, have only called maintenance 4-6 times, can count on less than two hands who comes to my apartment, and as of the last six months there have many new tenants moving in and out. I have never had any sort of issue with bugs besides the usual ones that come into houses like spiders. About a month and a half ago my oldest son started waking up with bites on his body. I assumed it was spiders, as we had quit a few in the apartment. I stripped his bed, moved his bed, sprayed some ant, spider, and roach killer along his bed boards in the whole room along with his mattress, and washed bedding. The bites appeared again in roughly a week. I again repeated the process I had just mentioned. The bites stopped once again and I did not see any new spiders. So I thought the problem had been resolved. Then once again he woke up with bites. Throughout this whole time I had been checking his room at random times during the night when he was not here and saw nothing. About two weeks ago I saw a bug that did not look anything like a bug I have ever came across. I crushed that one and was not able to identify it. A few nights later I saw another one and caught it. On Monday (March 14, 1011) my dad took the bug into a pest control place to have it formally identified. It was a bed bug. That afternoon I went to the office just assuming they were going to help me out. I was wrong. The manager kept asking me what hotels I had been to, what new furniture I purchased, where I had been, etc. He then began to go into the process of what it would take to get rid of them. Let me say that it is basically like moving, hours and hours of work. He went on to say that they normally pay for about half. But that is only half of the extermination not all the other stuff. I was extremely upset and had to leave the office at that point. I do not feel that in anyway I brought these into my house or that I should have to use my money to ratify the issue. Today I did another inspection and yes I see them now. This is an urgent matter that needs to be resolved asap! My family has also been sick for well over a month and I read that bed bugs can contribute to that. I am a single mom with an infant and six year old and attend college full time. I cannot afford this nor the time it is going to take to resolve the issue, if the treatment will even work.
