COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

Moved into unit on July 1, 2013. After first night bites were noticed. At first we didn't know what they were from, spent money on doctors visit and prescription creme for the itch. Less than a week later we saw the first bug. It was full grown, not a new problem. Soon we became aware of other units that had the same problem. We contacted the property management and they sent an exterminator. We bagged our mates and box spring, washed and dried all our being and clothes on super hot and bagged them as well. We bought diatamaceous earth and spray. We found more bugs. Exterminator came again, this time when he flipped or bed to look for bugs he ripped the bag on the box spring ( we noticed it when we got back; couldn't be there for a couple hours after the spraying) so the bus we had trapped were able to get out. It's been a month and the problem isn't getting better. It is unlivable. As per a new Chicago ordinance they wetter legally bound to tell us if they suspected bugs in the building. They did not; we would not have moved in if we'd known. They also have not had the units around us treated as the ordinance says they must. We also witnessed 3 beds and/ or box spring s thrown out since we moved in, all with bed bugs. We intend to throw away all our furniture, put much of our possessions into air right packaging and into storage, and find another apartment and stay from scratch. The problem in this building is bigger than our unit and we cannot stay here.
